Who knew that bloggers could take a sabbatical? DCist’s favorite potty mouthed political blogger Ana Marie Cox will be MIA for the entire month of February. Today marks the first day that former Gawker editor Choire Sicha takes over blogging duties at Wonkette. The site, a part of the New York based Gawker Media Empire, is apparently letting Cox loose for a month to write a book. Ah yes, another blogger turned author. You can’t ever have too many of those. The details of Cox’s publishing contract are a mystery to us, but we do wonder how well NYC based Sicha will blog about the D.C. politico scene.
What say you, readers? Is it good bye? Or good riddance?
Wonkette’s (temporary) farewell:
So it turns out that after a publisher give you money, you have to give them a book. And for some reason, simply printing out dozens of posts about ass-fucking and stapling them together isn’t acceptable. (Though we understand that approach works for some. So jealous!) Long story short: For the month of February, this site will be in the capable hands of Choire (KOR-EE) Sicha (SEEE-CHA). He’s completely clueless about politics, incredibly shallow, and liable to post things with only the most cursory of fact-checks (and by “cursory” we mean “non-existent”). In other words, you’ll hardly know the difference.
>>Update: It looks like Andrew Sullivan is also throwing in the blogging towel for the time being. Is there a mass blogger burn out on the horizon? Rest easy readers, we here at DCist have no plans of slowing down in the near future. Thanks to a DCist reader for the tip!
