The Post reports this morning that some commuters using the Dulles Toll Road are irked by their late entry into discussions over a proposed toll hike that would go toward paying for metrorail’s introduction to the Tysons-Dulles corridor. According to the Post “[i]t wasn’t until this week that the motoring public specifically was invited to weigh in on the toll increase.”

One of the opponents has gone as far as establishing a website, NoTollIncrease.com, dedicated to fighting the toll increase. The site’s rallying call, “Pork out of politics and tolls off the toll road!” isn’t quite as zippy as “Don’t tread on me” or “Fifty-four forty or fight,” but you get the point.

They don’t want to pay for a rail line they won’t use, and they fear that their tolls could rise to as much as $2.25 each way. The question is now: Do the angered commuters stuck in traffic on the Dulles Toll Road have enough political sway to derail the rail proposal that everyone seems to want (as long as they don’t have to pay for it)?
