As rumored on their chat last week, the Post’s Going Out Gurus started their own blog today. Along with the Achenblog, the Post now has two active blogs running. It’s great to see the Post get into the blogging community with a group blog that has comment features, especially considering their stated dissatisfaction with local music blogs:

The one problem I have with many of the local music blogs I’ve read … is the obsession with indie rock…and only indie rock. Gets boring pretty quickly..

The Post, with its head-first dive into the blogging world, joins a recent media flurry of blog news. In fact, Google shows multiple mentions of blogs daily, and with Eason Jordan’s resignation attributed, in part, to bloggers, the trend of traditional media looking closely at blogs doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The Post has gone one step further by starting some blogs of their own.

For its part, the G.O.G. blog — whose name does leave a bit to be desired — is clearly still in its infancy. Recent posts discuss miniburgers and martinis at the new 12-21 in Bethesda and an upcoming Neko Case concert in Baltimore. Hopefully, as time goes on the Gurus will add some more interesting material. They might also consider refining the design of their page, which loads strangely on some browsers and is rather advertisement heavy. Still, this is a big move in an interesting direction for the Post, and DCist welcomes the Going Out Gurus to the blogging community.
