Must-See-TV tonight, readers, so set your Tivo’s for “A Company of Soldiers,” a “Frontline” documentary which premieres on WETA and MPT at 10 p.m.
The documentary offers an intimate and often moving look into the lives of the U.S. Army’s 8th Cavalry Regiment stationed in Baghdad, during the month of November 2004. According to the NY Times’ Alessandra Stanley tonight’s documentary
does not presage peace or quagmire in Iraq…Instead, a complicated war is broken down into small pieces to show how some individuals rise to occasions that have no nobility of their own.
With the recent “Postcards from Buster” controversy and trigger happy watch dog groups ready to write the Federal Communications Commission every time someone drops the F-bomb on TV, PBS has made an edited and unedited version of the Frontline episode avilable to affiliates. WETA will be broadcasting the unedited version, which includes a warning for strong language and graphic footage.
Also on tonight at 10 p.m.: “Judging Amy”, “Law and Order:SVU” or for the lucky ones with cable, “Serendipity” on TBS. Seriously, you have no excuse.
