Editor’s Note: As DCist continues to grow, we’re looking to revamp and expand our Arts coverage to better cover the varied local geography of the D.C. area’s artistic community. If you are interested in contributing to our Arts section — visual, fine, performing, et al — please e-mail Mike or swing by our happy hour this Friday. In the meantime, here is this week’s Arts Agenda, compiled by F. Lennox Campello of the Fraser Gallery and DC Art News and DCist’s Cyndi Spain.
Let’s hope the weather stays warm for the openings at the Bethesda area art galleries this Friday. Guided tours are available and the galleries will extend their hours until 9 p.m. Tours begin at 7 p.m.; meet your guide at the Bethesda Metro Center, at the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Wisconsin Avenue. As always, the receptions are free and open to the public.
>> While you’re there, look for Norma Wangel’s enamels at Creative Partners Gallery (her “White Spot” is shown at right), and “Parallel Color” by Elaine Langerman and Willie Marlowe at Gallery Neptune. Photography buffs can check out the Bethesda International Photography Competition, featuring 27 photographers, at Fraser Gallery and painting fans should visit “Exotic Journeys,” an exhibition of paintings by Florence Gang at Ozmosis Gallery. A percentage from those sales will go to disaster relief for victims of the tsunami.
