This past January, local radio was turned upside down when, without warning, venerated alternative rock station WHFS was switched into all Spanish salsa, all the time. Though it was widely agreed that WHFS had been on a downward descent — playing more numetal than interesting independent music — its loss was still strongly felt in the radio community. Since then, those yearning for an HFS fix could turn to AOL, where the channel has been somewhat resurrected into a streaming online station, and can be heard on Baltimore station Live 105.7 evenings and overnight. But the most important question of all still remained: What about the HFStival?!

Well, rest your weary minds. Trolling around the internet and the HFStival forum, we’ve come across several rumors that the HFStival, a popular annual concert, was in the process of being revived. And now there appears to be some confirmation that it is indeed happening on May 14 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. The line up thus far seems to be as follows:

Billy Idol
Unwritten Law
Social Distortion
NY Dolls
Sum 41
The Bravery
Interpol
Muse
Garbage

The date seems to be confirmed by both Unwritten Law’s and Sum 41’s tour dates.

So start getting your mosh pit techniques ready; start filling up your water bottles with vodka; start getting ready to hear one of the first decent HFStival line ups in years — it looks like the HFStival is back!
