Less Than Jake once referred to themselves as “not a one-hit wonder, but a 10-year failure.” And they may be right — you’re no more likely to see these guys on MTV than hosting their own reality show or winning a Grammy. For all the music the band has recorded (their discography includes more than 100 releases, including full-length recordings, promos, re-mixes, and splits), they have toiled in relative obscurity for 15 some-odd years, scoring only marginal hits with “History of a Boring Town” from 1998’s “Hello Rockview” and “She’s Gonna Break Soon” from 2003’s “Anthem.” But that’s how their fans best like it — LTJ is best known as the most closely guarded secret you want all your friends to listen to.
