We guess they’re the D.C. version of the Gates. Instead of visitors in Central Park looking at saffron fabric, we have visitors in West Potomac Park admiring a blanket of pink flowers … except that unlike Christo’s public art, the cherry blossoms will return next year, assuming a swarm of beavers or northern snakeheads don’t crawl out of the water and chew the trees down. Traffic heading south on 17th, 15th and 14th streets, east and west on Independence and Constitution avenues was jam-packed all weekend. We hope you had a relaxing weekend.
Here’s what you missed on DCist the past few days.
— Another blow for D.C.’s Chinatown: New York to construct larger Chinese gate.
— Karen Feld: Campari (and some other dogs), gossip and sculpture
— Leo to take VP roost at Naval Observatory? … The West Wing’s season concludes.
— WMATA says it is looking at ways to introduce skip-stop service.
