Continuing on the baseball theme today…
If you live on East Capitol Hill and want to park by your house, be prepared. Ward 6 residents living east of 16th St. between C St. NE and C St. SE will need a special permit to park on these blocks on gamedays, as will Ward 7 residents east of 19th St and south of Florida Avenue. Many of the blocks covered in this area are normally not restricted parking, but when the Nats are playing you’ll need to pick up a special permit from RFK administrative offices or face getting towed. The city will also be enforcing aggressive residential parking enforcement east of 13th St. NE; even in unzoned areas, cars must display Zone 6 stickers. These measures are designed to reserve parking for locals and steer fans towards Metro or the 9,000 spots around the stadium, where parking costs were posted as $10 as of last night. It may also thwart more entrepreneurial residents who, in the spirit of Baltimore’s 33rd Street denizens back in the days of Memorial Stadium, sold their front and back yards to game attendees. If you’re looking to get a special permit, make sure you show up at RFK with the correct paperwork. We’re told you’ll need proof of residence, the title for your vehicle, and your D.C. registration.
