In a not-entirely unsurprising move, six year old Capitol Hill monthly Voice of the Hill announced yesterday that they will be merging with the Current Newspapers Inc., who publish the Georgetown, Northwest, and Dupont Currents. Senior staffs at both papers will be re-arranged slightly, with Voice of the Hill benefiting from an enhanced classified section as well as deeper coverage of local news and events. There are no plans to change the current look or distribution of the Voice, which unlike the Current papers runs monthly, with a four color cover.

More interesting to DCist are the websites of these local papers — or lack thereof. The Voice of the Hill website updates frequently with news from around the Hill and D.C. as a whole; individual issues are available for download as PDF or text file. The Current papers, on the other hand, have little online presence. The Georgetown Current has a long out of date website, while searches for online editions of the Dupont and Northwest Currents proved fruitless. Hopefully Bruce Robey, the Voice’s webmaster, will be able to bring the Current into the 21st century.
