We never believed the myth that bloggers were asocial. Sure, we spend hours and hours hunkered behind our keyboards pouring out our thoughts to our little obscure niches of cyberspace, but we’ve been known to go to bars occasionally, where a few people have even been known to join us. We’ve observed that D.C.’s blogosphere is fairly fragmented, and contains little niches of activity here and there.
We were excited to see two D.C. blogs we like – Rock Creek Rambler and Kathryn On – collaborating to organize what they’re calling “Live Blogging 05.” The event is tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Eyebar. They’re inviting “all bloggers, commenters, and lurkers” but warn lurkers if they come “you have to actually talk. If you just stand around watching everyone else it will really creep me out.”
Other sub-communities in the city’s blogosphere occasionally sponsor meetups, which include Julian Sanchez’s occasional Blogorama, the (seemingly) dying “weblogs-social-dc” Yahoo Group, in addition to the Meetup.com blogger group we host. Who are we missing?
