In the past we’ve received – how should we say? – a few choice comments on the Gothamist editorial policy of using the “we” voice. What can we say? We’re sorry if you don’t like it, but being a collective blogging hivemind, we think that we should use the we, as we like to represent ourselves as a larger editorial voice. But we understand where you’re coming from. For those who cannot stand the “we”, Eric Richardson, a communications major at USC, came up with Singularist, a scripted site that takes out the “we” and transforms the text to make it look like it was written from the first-person perspective. He intended it for use on LAist, but has kindly made it so that the script can be used on any of the -ist sites. You can get your singular DCist fix here. You can also read an interview with Richardson over at Chicagoist. Our opinion? We think it’s pretty funny and inventive.
(And yes, we purposely used “we” as much as possible in this post. Just to piss you off. Yes, you.)
