Remember the NBC show The Law Firm that premiered at the end of July? No? No wonder. DCist recalls a big build up of advertising and then the show simply disappeared after two episodes. NBC pulled the show for low ratings, but has found it a new home, Tuesday nights on Bravo.
The Law Firm “features real lawyers competing against each other while trying real court cases with real clients, in front of real judges and juries.” Wow, that’s all so…”real.” As much as we loathe the introduction of a new reality series, this one shows a glimmer of potential in that viewers might actually learn something about the legal process. Besides, the show is somewhat relevant to D.C. — it’s about lawyers. And isn’t every third person we meet here a lawyer?
Lawyer jokes aside, D.C. has its own representation on David E. Kelly’s (The Practice) first reality series. Anika Harvey, a D.C. native and assistant state’s attorney for Prince George’s County, takes on 11 challengers during the eight episode competition.
The first two previously-aired episodes will run back to back tonight at 8 p.m. and the remaining six will air starting Sept. 6. Hopefully we’ll see some svelte legal maneuvering and not the traditional reality show catfight.
