For this installment of Transit on Tuesday/Thursday/Whenever the hell we choose we open with a useless factoid: Did you know that soon the District will be the only city in the world whose crossing signals, such as those pictured above, all have a countdown function? We were pretty impressed to hear of such an accomplishment. We are still somewhat mystified, though, with crossing signals along wide stretches of road that allow 10 seconds or less to cross safely. This isn’t to say that we don’t enjoy the sprint, but that maybe not everyone in the District appreciates the challenge. Alas…
