>> Numerous galleries in the 14th Street corridor have opened new exhibits over the last week. Curator’s Office opened a new exhibit of drawings by Korean-born Jiha Moon last week. Moon’s colorful, kaleidoscopic work reflects her training in both American and Korean artistic traditions and combines elements of folklore and pop culture.

>> Meanwhile, Transformer Gallery has launched its fourth season with a more cutting-edge exhibit of video work. “Fair Game,” the first solo exhibit for D.C. based artist Jason Kimmerman, is the product of 150 episodes of the program COPS culled into one continuous loop of police chases. As the artist explains on the gallery’s Web site: “the fast paced movement, and rough-cuts of each clip, stream endlessly into one another creating a scenario where the police and the criminals are caught-up in an endless game of cat and mouse.” A screen shot from the video is shown above. DCist checked it out on opening night over the weekend, and found it to be much richer in subtext and biting social commentary than you might imagine.

>> Other DCist recommended 14th St. shows: In addition to Jiha Moon, frankly we think you could happily spend an entire evening getting lost in the veritable feast of confident showings at the 1515 14th St. NW complex. Plus be sure to check out Kendall Buster’s immersive installation of a ceiling/sky made of tents at Fusebox.
