DCist is all about small, locally-owned businesses. Hence our partnership with buyindie.net, which seeks to “find, catalog, and promote the good and not so good independently-owned businesses within the District of Columbia.” Praise.

Spied outside the Whole Foods on P Street, this homemade advertisement may well allow the District’s women to free themselves from the corporate chains of behemoth undergarment producer and retailer Victoria’s Secret. Definitely small, most definetely locally-owned (check out that sweet 202 area code), and worthy of a DCist plug.

Ok, we admit — the ad isn’t so much eye-catching (the lettering is uninspired, the message not all that memorable, and the placement along the bottom of a light post not terribly wise), but can you beat the price? Can you?

Women of the District — buy local.
