Dine Out for Hurricane Relief
In what has unfortunately become a familiar event, area restaurants, OpenTable, Share Our Strength and Windows of Hope team up to present Restaurants for Relief, a night when restaurants will donate a portion of their dinner sales to provide hunger relief for victims of Hurricane Katrina. Mark your calendar for Sept.27 and make a reservation. At the moment, 55 local restaurants have joined the effort. Don’t worry if you have neither the time nor money for a big fancy dinner; wallet-friendly establishments like Cosi and Ben & Jerry’s have signed on as well. Every little bit helps.
DCist salutes the restaurants that have signed on so far and urges others to enlist. This event is just one example of the overwhelming generosity of our area’s restaurateurs. We know it’s a hard business, but our chefs and owners never stop giving. It’s easy for us on this side of the kitchen to hold up our end of the deal, since all we have to do is eat. We’ll see you out on Tuesday!
