FRIDAY:
>> The Avalon Theatre is hosting Prism 2005: The New Cinema of Serbia and Montenegro through Sunday, and tonight at 7 p.m. is popular Serbian actor-director-producer Ljubisa Samardzic’s Skyhook. The film (pictured), a surprisingly life-affirming basketball flick set in the midst of NATO bombings in 1999, earned positive buzz at the 2000 Berlin Film Festival.
>> We don’t know about you, but we’ve been kinda addicted to Peter Jackson’s Production Diary, the LOTR director’s balls to the wall blog about the process of making King Kong. On a much smaller scale, Rorschach Theatre had been keeping a production blog of their own during rehearsals for Amy Freed’s The Beard of Avon, now through Nov. 20, and we applaud them as well. We want our Internet voyeurism, and we want it now! Read the blog, then get your tickets for the play here.
SATURDAY:
>> No word yet if weather conditions will prevent this enterprising blogger from hosting the first ever Tombstone Hold ‘Em tournament in the Historic Congressional Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. — but it sounds just strange enough to be worth a gander. We’ll keep you posted.
