Yes dear reader, you read right. For the simple task of spending seven hours tomorrow discussing how to create a “long-range vision” for the city in the areas of youth development, employment opportunities, the public library system, and affordable housing, the mayor will provide you with free food and entertainment and the chance to engage in some good old fashioned curmudgeonly public policy debate.
All joking aside, we’ve received a number of messages promising us the mayor’s fourth biannual “Citizen Summit” scheduled to happen in the Convention Center tomorrow from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. is actually a good opportunity to discuss the city’s pressing issues with fellow residents. Described by the organizers as “the nation’s largest town hall meeting” we think the meeting will at least be an entertaining collection of city citizens and activists, and the mayor promises to be there and will be speaking to the media around noon.
