Even Shadow Senator Paul Strauss had a car in the parade. And a classic one, to boot.

Yes, bloggers have families too. DCist will be publishing on a lighter schedule for the next few days as we tear ourselves away from our T1 lines and wireless connections to spend some quality face time with our loved ones and of course, stuff ourselves silly.

For our part, DCist staff will be scattered all across the country, from rural Tennessee to sunny LA via some time spent in North Carolina, Toledo, Ohio (think there will be a TomKat sighting?), Ann Arbor, Michigan and Brewster, NY (by bus–that’s going to be brutal). It’s quite the itinerary we know.

Of course, some of us also call DC home and will only travel as far as the suburbs to ride out the holiday with plenty of touch football, hot apple cider and a few viewings of Harry Potter.

Who else is fighting traffic, long airport security lines and braving Greyhound this weekend? Whatever your plans, have a great holiday. We’ll be back in full force on Monday.
