Anybody living in the city with a couple of kids knows how hard it is to maintain any sort of indie cred. You can hardly be showing up at the Black Cat every night when little Sam or Sue needs a bottle and a viewing of Sesame Street.
Well, lucky for you, here comes Pancake Mountain to the rescue! The offbeat local cable channel that hosts musical performances that both parents and kids can enjoy (everybody from the Arcade Fire to Henry Rollins has performed) is screening their latest DVD collection this evening at the Warehouse Theater. Email service DailyCandy D.C. lets us know that the showings are at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.; tickets are $6 at the door.
This latest DVD (Pancake Mountain’s third) contains performances from Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Shonen Knife, Weird War and lots more. And after the screening there’ll be a Q&A with the behind-the-scenes people that make the mountain magic happen. If you’re not able to attend this evening’s viewings, the DVD (and the two before it) are for sale online. It could make an excellent Christmas present for both parents and baby.
