Yes, Metro needs an inspector general. Well, so thinks Rep. Albert Wynn (D-Md.), who asked that Metro board Chairman Dana Kauffman consider the idea.
To be honest, we’re surprised that Metro has never had one. An agency of that size whose expenses are paid by three jurisdictions could probably do with some internal oversight and auditing, the lack of which led to last year’s revelations of over $1 billion in spending that didn’t so much solve the problems it was supposed to.
This is most definitely a job for the challenge-oriented.
