6:30 p.m. Man, it’s been a long day. We’ve been shuffling to and from meetings with members of the council, trying to convince that it’s now or never with this stadium lease. Cropp’s working her heart out, but it seems like an uphill battle with Barry, Gray, and Brown. And every chance he gets, Fenty goes on and on about MLB’s greed. I could really use a cigaratte, a beer, and a good meal. Well, while that’s all legal. Thanks, D.C. Council.

7:48 p.m. Ummm, hello? “American Idol” is on in 10, yet they’re still going. I don’t think any of the TVs in here carry Fox. Jesus…what good is this place?

8:41 p.m. They voted it down. There are now eight more people that are gonna get their water cut off, their cars impounded, and their paychecks sent to the wrong address. I should get one of these interns to go down and slash the tires on Catania’s car.

9:01 p.m. Tim Kaine just said something about Northern Virginia putting up the money for a stadium across the river. Can I be mayor there?

10:26 p.m. This Sodoku stuff is hard. Hold on…Robert Bobb, or, as I like to call him, Bob squared, seems to be getting some deals together. Man, that guy totally should have been mayor.

11:31 p.m. Sweet. They’re back in session. It looks like things might go our way. I wonder if I set the TiVo to record “The Daily Show.”

12:41 a.m. Nice! 9-4 went the vote, and the lease is approved! They said something about a $611 million price-cap. Yeah, like the stadium is ever gonna cost that little. I think I should probably go home and get some sleep. I wonder how long until the Metro co…oh, that’s right. Metro stops at midnight. Damn it!

1:32 a.m. Can you believe it? $14 for a cab ride?!? And to top that off, all we’ve got in the house is a jar of olives, some peanut butter, and a Michelob Ultra. I wonder if Domino’s still delivers.
