H&M, that bastion of trendy and cheap clothing (and we mean both price and quality) on Friday will host the “grand re-opening” of its downtown store at 1025 F Street, NW. Grand? Re-opening? Now, it’s been a while since we’ve been to H&M, but we weren’t surely we hadn’t missed some huge overhaul?
When we asked an H&M sales associate what constituted this “grand” re-opening, he motioned to a new coat of paint on the walls. One of our biggest gripes with the downtown location (and all H&Ms, really) has always been the highly disorganized nature of the store, which usually looks like it has been attacked by a gaggle of 16-year-old girls picking out just-the-right outfit for the school dance. Utter mayhem. However, upon visiting the new, improved and lemony-fresh version of H&M, we were impressed to find a new dressing room on the second floor and (gasp!) orderly racks of clothing and accessories.
The oh-so grand re-opening festivities begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. H&M sales associates were pretty sketchy on the details, but they told us it will involve a D.J., some giveaways and sale items. As if the lure of free stuff wasn’t enough, check out H&M’s spring line, which includes (surprisingly high quality) items like bright green and red trench coats, full graphic skirts and just-obnoxious-enough oversized sunglasses.
