The Nats have had better weeks.
First there was the news that they may not even be able to keep their name, thanks to Cincinnati-based Bygone Sports, who managed to trademark “Nationals” before MLB could. Next we find out that area fans will be able to see even less of the Nats’ games on TV, thanks to a bum deal by the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network which will leave us with only 32 games of the regular season’s 162 games on the tube. Finally, and most recently, today we learned that a D.C. judge put the city’s eminent domain plans for 12 acres of land needed for the stadium on hold, pending MLB’s approval of the stadium lease passed recently by the D.C. Council. Of course, MLB doesn’t seem to like the deal, so that could mean more legal battles and even more delays.
Serenity now, Nats fans.
