MONDAY
>> Get your Zydeco just in time for Mardis Gras! CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band bring their Grammy award-winning act to the Birchmere. Whether they play their classic upbeat sound, or their Katrina-inspired latest recordings, it’s sure to be a worthwhile show. 7:30 p.m., $19.50.

>> If you prefer the funk, or you just really liked PCU, head to 9:30 for George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic Allstars. 7:30 p.m., $40.

>> If you’re feeling truly adventurous, you might venture to the Black Cat’s back stage tonight, where the Taffety Punk Theater Company is hosting their first “vaudevillian throwdown” Damaged Goods, featuring several musicians and performers, including the never to be missed Edie Sedgewick. 9 p.m., $7.

Who says we only ever promote indie rock?

TUESDAY
>> If you’re trying to steer clear of the 9:30 club, for fear of belligerent drunks, check out Gone By June, an up and coming local band that just about everybody seems to be quite fond of, and who to our knowledge have never made a sex tape with Kid Rock. At DC9 with The Sikes and East of Beautiful. $8.

>> Or, you could celebrate Fat Tuesday with The Grandsons at Iota. The bill promises a Mardis Gras show and parade, which, in my humble opinion, sounds like more fun than flashing a bartender for beads. 8:30 p.m., $10.
