Not really – it just makes DCist giggle to say that. Actually, online indie boutique Unsung Designers on Saturday will open its Adams Morgan showroom for its first trunk show, which will feature local designers Barefoot Czarina and Oovoo.

Barefoot Czarina designer Maria Fyodorova will feature her spring jewelry line, which includes items like cherry necklaces make from hammered wire and dyed seashell beads, and square wood earrings adorned with peridot “leaves.”

Pauline Lewis of Oovoo also will be at Unsung to show off her line of intricately hand-embroidered bags, which she created the vision for with Vietnamese designer Le Thi Hon Tu. The collaboration now supports 120 full-time employees in the southern region of Vietnam and 500 part-time embroiderers in North Vietnam. That’s wo-man power. Lewis, who has been featured in Time magazine for her efforts, said the name Oovoo has roots in the word “ovo,” or “from the egg” or “from the beginning,” which she notes on the Unsung site “goes back to the circle of women that I work with.”

The trunk show will feature new items not yet on the Unsung site, as well as snacks and mimosas (a.k.a. spending juice). The show is from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 2412 18th St. NW.

Need further incentive to start your spring closet cleaning? Circle Boutique’s (1608 17th St. NW) quarterly sale starts today and goes through Sunday. Nearly everything in the store is 25% off, including denim from Rock & Republic and Rag & Bone (note: Circle also offers an in-store jeans alteration service).
