We all speak in favor of voting rights, but would any of us actually step up and do something to further the cause? Now we can.

The folks over at D.C. Vote — the organization that tirelessly fights the thankless battle for District voting rights — is asking for regular residents to appear in TV, radio, and print ads as spokespeople for the cause. In an email to supporters, they announced the start of the search:

Our recently conducted research shows that Americans respond exceptionally well to messages highlighting the fact that nearly 600,000 “regular people” live in the District under taxation without representation. There is a broad misconception outside the Beltway that only “politicians” live in DC.

That is where you come in.

A goal of our new communications campaign is to highlight the “regular people” who make up our community and are denied voting congressional representation. We are looking for nurses, teachers, small business owners, children, soccer moms and dads, students and others to share their stories.
