Remember when you used to go to a classmate’s birthday party and Mom would hand out lists with things like “a red paperclip” and “an oak leaf,” and then you’d break in your new Reeboks tearing around the streets and pestering the elderly neighbors so your team could make it back to homebase first with your collection? Well it seems the ever-growing community of Flickr users have found a way to recreate that game with their own nostalgic version of Photography Scavenger Hunt.
When I clicked on this lovely picture by Flickr user Samer Farha that was tagged in our photo pool, I noticed some “notes” on it that, Samer explained in the caption, are for the Flickr group The DC Chain. A person takes a photo in the city, capturing something that the last photo marked (here: The Post Office) and something the next photographer must find (clock on a building). Not only does this sound like fun and a great way to look at the city in a new light, but it’s produced some downright interesting photos. So, scavenger photogs, what can you find for us next?
