DCist really loves its readers, and if we’re not giving away stuff like Editors tickets or DVDs of Lewis Black in all his white-hot anger, we want to point you to places that will give you the free goodies themselves. You know, land of the free; freedom, use it or lose it; freedom rock, turn it up; etc. etc. Anyway, we have the dope on two free food items for you today. Everyone, say hello to Gelato and Burrito. They will go home with you for free, provided that you jump through a simple hoop to make them want you in return.
First, we’ll dispense with Burrito. Burrito lives in Springfield, VA, which isn’t all that close to the beating heart of the city, but we’re guessing at least some of you are in his vicinity. Burrito is from the well-known Chipotle family, and is celebrating the opening of his new digs at 7108 Old Keene Mill Road. He’ll be giving himself away for free, provided you go in to get a coupon today, then head back tomorrow between 11 AM and 2 PM. You see how he gives you a little for free, gets you addicted, then brings you back in for more? Burrito may be delicious, but Burrito is a little sketchy; you tell us if Burrito is worth it.
Gelato is the prime event tonight, however. Gelato is local. Gelato is handmade with Mexican vanilla. Gelato will drench himself in steaming hot espresso and force you to lick him up. Umm, well, he may not be that aggressive, but he will be delicious. Robb at Georgetown’s only Argentinean gelateria, Dolcezza Gelato (1560 Wisconsin Ave, NW) asks you all in to meet Gelato dressed up affogato-style in celebration of Dolcezza’s first anniversary. All you need to do is stop by the Dolcezza blog, print up a copy of the anniversary post, and stop in any time between now and the end of August. Gelato beckons you to him; Gelato whispers in your ear; Gelato might be a threat to your marriage.
