And a Mercedes.

It sure was nice of the Associated Press to remind us that today is the day the District of Columbia is inviting all of us who owe back taxes to stop by up until 8 p.m. tonight and kiss and make up:

District tax collectors are hoping that residents who’ve fallen behind in their taxes will arrange to pay up today. The D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue is holding its third annual Tax Resolution Day at its downtown offices today.

Officials from various tax offices will be on hand to try and work out agreements with property owners and others who’ve fallen behind in their payments.

We can only assume that along with coming to terms on arrangements to get those tax bills taken care of, D.C. tax officials will also be handing out pretty Hallmark cards that say “We’re so sorry we can’t offer you the Congressional representation you so rightly deserve today.” Directions to the office and further details can be found at the Office of Tax and Revenue’s web site.
