MONDAY
>>The alternately whimsical and dark Decemberists (who DCist caught the last time they came to town) perform their second show at the 9:30 club tonight in support of their recently released album The Crane’s Wife. While this show is sold out, you can try your luck with both craigslist or enjoy the show from the comfort of your own couch on NPR. Lavender Diamond opens. 8:30pm

>> Apples in Stereo will be playing with Archie Bronsen and local favorite Benjy Ferree at the Black Cat tonight. Apples in Stereo are known for their fantastical vision of the world and music. Prepare to be taken into a comical and lighthearted soundscape reminiscient of Sergeant Pepper‘s or White Album-era Beatles, with a touch of futuristic visions and a bit of American charm. 8pm, $12.

TUESDAY
>> DC’s long running and largest goth/indsutrial/electronic event, Alchemy, is closing the doors after six and a half years and three locations with the seasonally-appropriate Spooky 7 party. Alchemy has struggled to find a new home after the loss of Nation’s nightclub, so let’s send them off on a successful note. There are a lot of people who are going to miss this weekly party and hope that they will continue to throw occasional events. Club Envy, 8pm doors, $10.

>> The Red and the Black are throwing the “Night of the Living Skulls,” which promises to “bone crushing rock” with a special surprise guest band. DJ Dribble, Mellie Mel, DJ Moses Malone and DJ Matt Brown will also be playing. 9pm, Free.
