We’re still a couple of weeks away from putting together a comprehensive Nats season preview like last year’s, but we just wanted to pass along this sunny bit of optimism from the Sports Bog: Vegas gives our motley bunch 1:300 odds to bring home a World Series trophy this year – the longest odds in baseball.

This year’s roster, plus a heap of injury-riddled regurgitation known as “non-roster invitees” begin assembling in Viera this week to start gearing up for a season. Guys like Jerome Williams and Jason Simontacchi arrive with a chance to revive their careers, while returning Nats like John Patterson and Cristian Guzman look to bounce back from long injury layoffs. Felipe Lopez should be looking forward to a shift to second base, but is probably just looking forward to heading home to this every night.

Perhaps with a little luck, a little Manny Acta magic, and some hard work, the Nats can put together a season this year. But we wouldn’t bet on it.
