>> In between the springtime merriment of cherry blossom season, the National Park Service has managed to impose new rules on how visitors can take it all in. New “Do Not Touch” signs are up around the trees to stop root trampling, bud picking and even tree climbing. The new museum-like rules around the tidal basin are meant to protect the trees, which cost $300 to replace. Now if we could only keep those pesky birds and squirrels away too. [NBC 4]
