We mentioned in it the roundup, and our search for really great still shots of what went down has come up empty so far (though thanks to all the AU students who’ve sent us photos and personal accounts directly), but this video is making its way through the series of You Tubes, and it’s worth sharing.
You can read the WaPo’s account of the “citizen’s arrest” attempt/protest action carried out by a group of American University students against Senior White House Advisor Karl Rove last night as he left campus after a speech he made to the school’s Young Republicans group. The Secret Service told the Post that students threw “unidentified” objects at the car carrying Rove and “ran in front of the vehicle.” Those students who were involved, like Matt Kent (you can check out his photo set on Flickr here) described the action in lighter terms to us via email:
The vigilantes intended to arrest Mr. Rove for breaking federal law, specifically the Presidential Records Act of 1978, with his rampant use of a private, unaccountable email address.
Although they failed to apprehend the nefarious fugitive, the citizen constables surely managed to scare the scheming mastermind, fearlessly blocking his getaway car. Mr. Rove successfully escaped, no doubt aided by a group of obviously confused police officers. The fugitive is still at-large and dangerous, armed with a set of lies, deceptions and criminally poor dance moves.
Somehow we doubt Rove was actually scared, since that assumes he has emotions in the first place.
