This morning we got an inquiry on the DCist Tip Line about officers wielding police tape closing off the Dupont Circle CVS. By the time the intrepid DCist News Team arrived on the scene at 11:00 a.m., things were pretty much cleared up.

Employees told us they caught a shoplifter in the store, abating our fear of an emergency situation in the area. We have a hard time imagining why police tape was needed to apprehend someone with sticky fingers, and we also wonder exactly how anyone could easily lift anything of value from CVS, which famously keeps even its soap under lock and key. But mystery solved, the store is open again and there’s no big news to report, so feel free to go about your business.
