With seven albums under their belt, Blonde Redhead are certainly not newcomers. From their early tutilage under Sonic Youth through their evolution into an ambient, noisey sound all their own, the New Yorkers are coming to the 9:30 Club Sunday night in support of their most recent album, 23, which unlike the movie with a simliar name, is getting great reviews all over the internets. If their show here is anything like the one they played a few weeks for our sister site Seatlest, you’ll be treated to a fantastic set spanning the band’s entire career.
Joining Blonde Redhead are Fields (pictured), hailing from the U.K. and Iceland. The band’s only been playing out together since early 2006, and just released their debut album this year. The band has a reputation for fiercely guarding small label practices even though they signed to Atlantic. They promise to keep releasing more vinyl records than CD singles. You can listen to their song, “If You Fall We All Fail” here, or visit their flash site for more tracks and “b side vinyl downloads.”
