>> When you get home tonight, you might want to hunt down any receipts you still have for purchases of Energy Star rated appliances. The D.C. Department of the Environment will distribute cash rebates to District residents who have purchased the environmentally friendly appliances. A washing machine is worth a $150 rebate, a refrigerator $100 and a window air conditioner unit $50. Residents with receipts dated April 13, 2006, or later can claim their rebates in the lobby of the Reeves Center at 14th and U streets Northwest on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A valid D.C. driver’s license or identification card is required.
