>> If you didn’t make it to any of the screenings of this year’s 48 Hour Film Festival entries, tonight is your best, and last, bet to check out some of the highlights. At 7 and 9:30 p.m., the AFI Silver Theater will screen the “Best Of” the festival, a good way to take in the fun of the project (which asks filmmakers to create a short in only 48 hours) without too much pain (not all of them can be good, after all). Purchase tickets here for $9.25 each.
>> Enter for a chance to win a FREE festival pass for the SILVERDOCS AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival at Grand Central tonight in Adams Morgan. The festival is hosting a preview party to screen their highlight reel in anticipation of the festival, which runs June 12 through 17 at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. 6:30 to 9 p.m. — we hear they’ll have some free drinks on hand as well.
>> You might think Jo Barrett’s book, The Men’s Guide to the Women’s Bathroom, would be a dream book for someone like the D.C. Lavatory Lady. Sadly, the novel is a fictional story about a woman’s journey of self-discovery after a messy divorce. Barrett will read and sign copies tonight at Olsson’s in Dupont Circle at 7 p.m. Just don’t expect a review from everyone’s favorite bathroom blogger.
>> Pianist and local legend John Eaton performs at Blues Alley. Sets are at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Visit the club’s web site for cover information.
