D.C. resident Kevin Keith Eby, of the blog Knee Deep in Mud, recently came home to a rather rude surprise in the alley that faces his kitchen window: two individuals engaging in sex acts and smoking crack, in plain view. The resulting blog post is incredibly graphic, upsetting, and sad.
Whether you feel publishing something like this ends up only serving to humiliate publicly individuals who are clearly in a very bad place in their lives, or could also serve to shame public officials into acting both to help keep this kind of behavior off of our streets and help people with serious drug problems — well, surely you’ll let us know what you think if you choose to look at it.
We disagree with many of the stereotypes presented in Eby’s account, but we also think that the fact that it is now out there on the Internet for anyone to see is news — one that suggests the power of digital images readily able to capture criminal acts and immediately publish them to the web.
