Pie and helping people are two of our favorite things. Thanks to the folks at Food and Friends, the two are brought together with their Slice of Life program. The charity–which provides meals, groceries, and nutrition counseling to people in the D.C. area with AIDS, cancer, and other major illnesses–is holding a pie sale, just in time for Thanksgiving.
Generous people (and pie lovers) can help out by purchasing their holiday pies from Food and Friends. Made by local bakery Bread and Chocolate, you have your choice of pumpkin or apple pies for $25, or a chocolate torte for $35; the proceeds from their sale go to the charity. After all, what’s Thanksigiving without a pie or four? If you’re not a pie-eater, you can purchase the pies and donate them to Food and Friends, which will give them to their clients as part of their Thanksgiving meals. You can pay for them online here.
The pies are on sale until November 15, and can be picked up at various spots around the area the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving (the 19th and 20th). So why not do something good for both your stomach (or that of someone in need) and a local charity?
