Big news in the D.C. blogosphere! Jason Samenow of our favorite independent D.C. weather blog, CapitalWeather.com, just posted an announcement that his web site has been bought by partnered up with the washingtonpost.com.
After nearly four years operating as an independent Web site, we are thrilled to announce that we will join washingtonpost.com tomorrow, January 8. CapitalWeather.com will officially become washingtonpost.com’s “Capital Weather Gang” blog.
As soon as our area on washingtonpost.com launches, CapitalWeather.com will automatically re-direct to the new Capital Weather Gang blog, hosted on the washingtonpost.com Web site. Expect the same useful, interactive and entertaining weather content from the same team of meteorologists, writers and photographers. The look and feel of the site will change, but you should notice improvements, such as a sharper look and a more reliable commenting system.
Congratulations to Samenow, Dan Stillman and the whole team at CapitalWeather.com. We’ve been loving you and linking to you for years, and we’ll continue to do so at your new, better-paying location. It’s always exciting to see one of the members of the D.C. blog community called up to the major leagues.
Marc Fisher has a post up welcoming the web site to the washingtonpost.com family and dishing some more details. As for that new name — Capital Weather Gang — the internet just wouldn’t be the internet without bad puns, would it?
