With the Redskins falling to the Seahawks in Seattle on Saturday, it was up to the Wizards to rep for the nation’s capital against that other Washington when the Supersonics visited the Phone Booth on Sunday. The Wiz’s 108-86 win might not do much for the ‘Skins fans out there, but as Bullets Forever points out, The District actually beat Seattle on aggregate if you combine both scores. Local product Kevin Durant scored 19 in his only trip to the Phone Booth this season, while all five Washington starters scored in double figures. The Wiz improved their season record to 17-15 and currently sit in second place in the Southeast Division and fourth overall in the Eastern Conference.
Lest anyone forget about Agent Zero, Gilbert was quoted over the weekend saying that he just might sit out this season if he doesn’t feel like he can return to top form. But, he added, his knee is feeling much better and if he feels like the team can make some noise in the playoffs with him in the lineup, he’ll come back. “If we have a chance to go far with me playing in the playoffs, then I’ll say yeah,” Arenas told the Post. “If not, then, I’ll shut it down and just rehab.” Got it? It’s worth noting that the team is a very respectable 13-10 without Arenas this year.
In other locker room news, some of the team’s veterans have taken it upon themselves to rearrange the seating chart in the locker room, specifically separating Nick Young, Dominick McGuire and Andray Blatche. “We’ve got too much joking and playing around going on in here before games,” DeShawn Stevenson told the Post. More on this after tomorrow’s game against the Rockets.
After Tuesday’s tilt, the team travels to Atlanta on Friday before returning home on Saturday to face the East’s best team, the Boston Celtics. The Wiz will then travel to Boston next Monday and complete the first of three home and home series in January. The other two are against the New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors.
