As you may recall, the luxury suite at the Verizon Center that owner Abe Pollin gave to the city as a thank-you gift for that $50 million check to upgrade the facility has caused some bad feelings between Mayor Adrian Fenty’s staff and the D.C. Council. Each office thought they ought to have total access to the box, and the mayor’s office even tried to block the Council from getting their hands on Wizards tickets. But now WTOP’s Mark Segraves updates his ongoing Phone Booth saga to report that in order to douse the flames of indignity flaring up between the two governing bodies, Pollin has given the D.C. Council their own suite.

It’s nice to know the District is being run by grown-ups such as these:

Council Chairman Vince Gray handed out January’s tickets to each council member at the monthly council breakfast Tuesday morning. Council members immediately tore into the envelopes and began thumbing through the stack of free tickets.

“Dancing with the stars, this is sweet! I live for this,” councilmember David Catania exclaimed.

Oh, fine, Catania did quickly note that he was kidding, but apparently the Council members proceeded to spend a good chunk of their monthly breakfast meeting swapping tickets with each other. The tickets were all for luxury suites, though not necessarily the same suite. We guess it’s too bad Abe Pollin doesn’t have any magic slips of paper that will make the D.C. Council feel like Mayor Fenty actually cares what they think about anything.
