All of the World Bank buildings in D.C., including its headquarters near the White House, are closed today after a receiving a bomb threat.

In a statement on its web site, the World Bank said it was investigating a bomb threat received by telephone, and that the Bank is working with law enforcement officials to determine the validity of the threat.

The World Bank’s main building is only about a block from White House, and the entire Bank employs approximately 8,000 people in about seven buildings in D.C. Reuters reports that the International Monetary Fund said it would be open today, but told its employees they do not have to come in.

A World Bank employee forwarded a memo to DCist which was received by all of the lender’s staff. We’ve pasted it below the fold.
