>> Got any hidden talents that you’ve been waiting to show off? If so, consider heading over to Subcontinental Drift, a monthly open mic held at Liv. Though conceived as a creative space for D.C.’s South Asian community, performers and attendees of all stripes are more than welcome. The open mic runs from 7 to 9 p.m. after which local DJs will take to the decks and spin the latest in international dance music. Free.

>> For those of you who’d like your SOTU drinking games organized by professional bartenders, you could try Ventor’s Sports Cafe in Adams Morgan, which is hosting their annual event again tonight starting at 7 p.m. For a scene only slightly less loud and intense, try perennial low-key politico meet-up spots like Stetson’s or Townhouse Tavern. We’ve also had good luck in previous years at Cue Bar on U Street, where the bartenders are usually willing to turn on at least one TV set to the speech, while everyone else inside is busy playing pool.

>> It’s another free red beans and rice Monday at The Red and the Black, and a worthwhile gig is upstairs featuring the Shackletons with Raise Up Roof Beams and Baltimore’s Frenemies. Show is $8, doors at 9 p.m.

>> The Goethe-Institut screens Robert Thalheim’s Netto, a coming of age story set in post-reunification Germany. 6:30 p.m., $6. The film made a big splash at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2005, and is presented in German with English subtitles.
