>> With Valentines Day and all its forced romanticism right around the corner, you might want to get in the mood with the Sex Workers’ Art Show. Sort of a multimedia, cabaret style event featuring both the good and bad of sex work, which apparently includes a “celebration of prostitution.” Check it out for yourself at the Rock and Roll Hotel. $15, Doors at 8 p.m.

>> Or if you’re single, Whole Foods Market is making it easier for you. Tonight from 6 to 9 p.m., a few area stores are hosting a “Great Pairings” event for singles that includes giveaways and food pairings. We’ve never needed much of an excuse to stop in to a Whole Foods for some free samples, and the idea of sanctioned cruising at the grocery store is pretty intriguing — who doesn’t do this all the time anyway? One wrinkle: not all stores are participating. Only four in the metro area are, and only one in the District proper: Georgetown (2323 Wisconsin Ave. NW), Silver Spring (833 Wayne Ave.), Arlington (2700 Wilson Blvd.), and Reston (11660 Plaza America Dr.).

He’ll be at the Birchmere with opening act, and D.C. native, Purple St. James, formerly known as YahZarah. PSJ/YahZarah made a name for herself singing on the Foreign Exchange album a few years back and providing back-up vocals for Erykah Badu. 7:30 p.m., $20.
