HAPPY HOUR: Don’t have a sweetheart right now? The folks at The New Gay are hosting a Valentine’s Day/Anti-Valentine’s Day party at Solly’s U Street Tavern from 8-11 p.m. Happy Hour prices go until 9. The party’s billed as a “co-ed/alterna-queer” affair, but straight folk are welcome too.
DANCE: Tickets are still available to tonight’s performance of Liz Lerman Dance Exchange’s Love, Etcetera: Dances to William Shakespeare and Willie Nelson. 8 p.m. in the Gonda Theatre in the Davis Performing Arts Center of Georgetown University. JAZZ: Fantastic local vocalist Felicia Carter begins a three night stand at Twins Jazz tonight. Her band will feature a lineup of stellar local musicians that will include pianist Bob Butta, drummer Frank Russo, monster bassist Amy Shook, and guitarist Donato Soviero. Tonight’s sets are at 8 and 10 p.m. while the weekend sets are at 9 and 11 p.m. Tickets are $15.
PERFORMANCE: A group called Flights of Fire, a locally based “fire dancing” troupe, performs a special love-themed show at Palace of Wonders tonight. Because nothing says love like almost burning your eyebrows off. 9:30 p.m., $10.
MUSIC: Constitution Hall will feature the soulful trifecta of Rahsaan Patterson, Lalah Hathaway, and Ledisi. Ledisi is coming off a recent Grammy nomination for Best New Artist while Patterson is probably best known for his role in Kids Incorporated. Hathaway is the child of former Howard student and R&B legend, Donny Hathaway. 8 p.m., $65.
