JAZZ: The Monterey Jazz Festival‘s 50th Anniversary Tour stops at the Music Center at Strathmore. This year’s tour features Benny Green, Derrick Hodge, James Moody, Kendrick Scott, Nnenna Freelon and Terence Blanchard. 8 p.m. $25-$58.

MUSIC: Three up-and-coming local bands, Black & White Jacksons, Wild Fictions and Cannot Be Stopped, have found a new friend in Dream Committee Records, a label particularly focused on D.C. music. Tonight’s show at the Black Cat Backstage will also feature the release of Dream Committee Records compilation …Anything & Everything. 9 p.m. $8.
