Attention DCist readers with reality TV show aspirations: FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance is coming to the Atlas Performing Arts Center on H Street NE on Thursday. From 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. tomorrow, dancers ages 18 to 30 have the chance to see if they have what it takes to be applauded or booed on national TV.
Be prepared to wait in line, because producers expect anywhere from 300-1200 dancers (callbacks are scheduled for Friday and Saturday). Atlas has hired additional security for Thursday, though, to ensure that a line doesn’t form before 6 a.m. So there’s no need to camp out.
Dancers must bring a CD of audition music. The show advises contestants to “dress to impress” — just make sure there’s no logo, trademark, or image of a celebrity. Further guidelines and important paperwork that must be filled out in advance can be found here.
To be honest, none of us can claim to have ever seen this show. Do they show embarrassing audition episodes like American Idol does? Those are the best thing about that show, which could make checking this SYTYCD action out vaguely worthwhile.
